TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION. 

 

The Association for Educational and Communication and Technology has defined technology in education as the study and ethical practice of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using and managing appropriate technological processes and resources. In other word, technology in education is an alternative or way of teaching and learning process in a modern era which engaging students study and the variety of technology that have been explored day by day. Technology has helped a lot in teaching and learning process as it ease teacher and student to expand the range of learning and teaching limit. Yet, learning and teaching become global centered as it has no boundaries to access world best platform to learn. Technology does not concern only to students but wide range to teachers as well. Students and teachers helps each other to master the usage of technology in the classroom. Technology has shown it’s capability at peak during the Covid19 Pandemic in 2020 to 2022. The usage of technology has grown a lot during this time as the class could not open for students and teachers, the technology like Zoom Meeting and Google Meet has been used numerously. So the teaching and learning process still can be carry on with no physical touch to one another. These technology helps a lot in ensuring teaching and learning process will never left behind.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

BENEFITS OF ENGAGING TECHNOLOGY IN EDUCATION.

 

1. Makes student more engaged

 

Students tend to zone out when they are in class. Let us imagine a bored student in a typical boring classroom with typical boring way of learning, students will have no interest to come to school and learn with excitement. But, if the situation is twisted, students will very excited to learn with the helps of technology like learning through games, slide notes shown on the screen using projector, and even using gadget like tablets when asking or answering to the question. Therefore, student will be motivated in learning the particular topic.

 

2. Helps retain more information.

 

Normally, people can retain something in their memory around 24 hours. After that period, it will slowly vanished from people’s mind. Teachers will not like it when this happen. But in this technological era, this fact seems not to be the problem in learning and teaching session. Technology have prove its capability in retaining more information in people’s mind and it will last longer. There is a lot of platform in the internet where students can find their own notes maker like Office Words, Powerpoint or even Powtoon. These helps students to contain their information in one platform. Students can come back and refer to it anytime and anywhere without involving papers and pens. It is easy to access as the students has their own gadget.

 

 

 

 

 

3. Accommodate multiple learning styles.

 

The study break learning styles into three categories. The technology has benefit each of this group. First, Auditory Learners will respond best to the spoken learning than written one. For this group of learners, teacher can use podcast, video recorded lesson or audiobooks in teaching and learning process. Second, Visual Learners. This group rely more on sight than sound. But, they detect and learn faster than other groups because they pay more attention on what they see and read. So for this group, teachers can use Powtoon, Powerpoint and ebooks as the mode of teaching and delivering information. The third group is Tactile Learners, this group find attracted in active learning. Teachers should give this group opportunity to touch the mice, click on the screen and explore themselves.

 

4. Encourage collaboration and give instant feedback to teachers.

 

Students can work in group when it comes to technology teaching and learning. Students are free to share what they have discovered through online sharing like Facebook, Whatsapp and Twitter. Students doesnt have to bring a lot physical file everywhere to record what they have explored like traditional journal media. All they have to do is share and transfer their sharing into the apps provided. They also can give instant feedback to the teachers so teachers can easily detect on the problem and find the solution to ensure the learning and teaching process still be going on smoothly.

 

 

 

 

HOW TO ENSURE THE SUCESS IN ENGAGING TECHNOLOGY IN THE CLASSROOM.

 

1. Teachers should explore and expose more.

 

Teachers should have the responsibility to explore more technology media to use in the classroom. Teachers also should expose those to students in the classroom to assure students that they have provided with learning tools that can ease their study.

 

2. Students should use technology in the classroom frequently.

 

Students should compare and contrast between modern-style learning and traditional-style learning. Therefore, students can understand the importance of using technology in the classroom. Students should use more technology like Powtoon, Blogger, and Poerpoint to contain and share the knowledge they already gained. This can assure other student who do not know or do not want to use technology to be less ignorance and use technology in learning process.

 

 

 

CONCLUSION 

 

In my opinion, nowadays students and teachers are very lucky to have the opportunity to engage with technology in learning process. The usage of technology in the classroom should be done always to ensure a better quality learning process in class. Students and teachers should work together to ensure the usage of technology in the classroom can be carried on all the time. I hope the technology will be expanded time to time to ensure other generation learning process in a better quality.
